Delivery and assembly

What to watch for when furniture is assembled

Before assembly the room needs to be cleared, the floor protected and the power sockets accessible. For most bedroom sets assembly takes a day; if the wardrobe is over 300 cm wide, plan for two.

What to watch for when furniture is assembled

Assembly day is the last visible step of production, and it shapes the result directly. A wardrobe that is not installed properly will not hold its door alignment, however perfectly it was built. That is why we never contract assembly out; our own team installs it, at no charge.

What to prepare before assembly

The room should be completely cleared. Pushing the old furniture to one side is not enough; modules are tilted and lifted during assembly, and that needs room to manoeuvre.

The floor needs protecting. On parquet and laminate our team lays protective sheeting, but the work goes more cleanly if rugs have been lifted.

A power socket needs to be accessible. At least one is required for driving screws and cutting.

Lift and stairwell dimensions need to be known in advance. Panels longer than 240 cm will not turn on a narrow staircase; this is picked up at the measuring stage and the modules are split accordingly.

The order of the day

Packages are opened in their numbered order. The wardrobe carcasses go up first and are fixed to the wall — anti-tip wall fixing is done on every wardrobe and is not optional.

The carcasses are levelled. Floors are rarely level, so the feet are adjusted one by one; skip this step and the doors will never line up.

The doors go on and the hinges are adjusted on all three axes. Drawers, shelves and hanging rails follow.

The bed and headboard are assembled and the bedside tables and chest are placed. Accessories and lighting connections come last.

What to check when assembly is finished

Open and close each door and check the gaps are even. Pull the drawers all the way out and try the soft-close. Lean on the hanging rail and check for sag. Confirm by eye that the wardrobe is fixed to the wall.

Inspect the surfaces in raking light; any scratch from transit needs to be identified the same day. Transit damage reported later is much harder to attribute.

Take the leftover screws and fittings from the team before they leave; you may need them later.

The first week after assembly

Wood and lacquered surfaces may move very slightly as they settle to the room’s humidity. We suggest checking the door alignment once more after the first week; we will come back to adjust it if needed, at no charge.

New furniture has a smell in the first few days. Airing the room several times a day shortens that period.

Why we do not subcontract

A problem that comes up during assembly — a missing part, an unexpected wall condition, a dimension out of true — cannot be resolved by a subcontractor; it has to go back to the manufacturer. When our own team installs, the problem is solved the same day and there is no second appointment.

Frequently asked

Is there a charge for assembly?

How long does assembly take?
For most bedroom sets, a day. For sets with a wardrobe over 300 cm wide, plan for two.
